Tofino had a record, 186 millimetres of rain in 12 hours on Tuesday Jan 03,2012 causing high turbidity in the water system and throwing Tofino into a boil water advisory on Wednesday morning. These high rains closed roads and caused flooding in several areas in Tofino.
Prior to this, Tofino’s highest recorded rainfall in a 24hr period was 184mm on Feb 24, 1982 and prior to that was 174mm on Jan 02, 1962.
